About NAVIT

Founded in 2021, NAVIT aims to bundle numerous mobility solutions offered by various providers on one digital platform. These include car and bike-sharing offers, e-scooters, shared taxis, and public transport services.

The young start-up calculates the total CO2 emissions of all employee trips in real time. Afterwards, all emissions are automatically compensated into one of 30 gold-certified sustainability projects.

The Goal: Making privacy a priority

As a company working with a lot of customer data, NAVIT understood the importance of data privacy and its impact on how consumers perceive their brand, how employees view their workplace and how authorities treat the company.

Several challenges were standing in their way:

  • Multiple stakeholders within their product, including B2B customers, end-users, mobility providers, and payment providers,
  • Scarce internal resources arising from a small team with a low budget.

To address compliance with privacy mandates, successfully demonstrate their commitment to data privacy and continue their sustainable growth, NAVIT needed a privacy solution and a named Data Protection Officer (DPO). The urgency came from several challenges. Firstly, they have multiple stakeholders within their product, be it B2B customers, end-users, mobility providers as well as payment providers. The second driver was scarce internal resources stemming from a small team with a low budget.

Choosing DataGuard

After a careful evaluation, NAVIT chose DataGuard for its expertise in data privacy. DataGuard also proved to be the most budget-friendly solution as it offers a named DPO, expert legal advice and a single source of truth software at a fixed monthly fee.

IMPROVING COMPLIANCE AND CREATING A NEW PRIVACY POLICY

NAVIT first projects with DataGuard included improving the compliance of their website with a new privacy policy.

The goal was to create a privacy policy that gives NAVIT customers, employees, and other relevant parties all information they need to know about how NAVIT collects, uses, and protects data.

Using DataGuard’s Privacy Platform and leveraging the Privacy Policy Generator feature, NAVIT accelerated the process of generating policies.

The company also used the platform’s Audit feature to understand initial privacy gaps and generate their legally required GDPR documentation; all saved automatically on the platform.

Continuous support for a growing business

Data privacy is not a one-time event, it’s a continuous process. Since collaborating with DataGuard, NAVIT has been growing as a business, extending their customer base and improving their product offering by adding new services to make it even easier to use.

When bringing in new service providers, DataGuard supports NAVIT with Data Processing Agreements to make sure personal data are being processed correctly. To set up and review such contracts, NAVIT leverages the Privacy Partner Management feature of DataGuard’s platform as an efficient collaboration tool.

Working continuously on their compliance posture has also helped NAVIT to gain customer trust.

“When we switched to our new product, we had to migrate our existing customer base, so all of our customers had to review our new policies. Here it was super helpful to have our expert at DataGuard to guide us through this project,” added Jule Twelkemeier of NAVIT.

The NAVIT team recently extended their contract with DataGuard for another two years.
