What will the EDPB ruling posit?

You probably saw it this morning while scrolling your newsfeed: more and more services are giving users a binding choice - either consent to tracking and profiling for marketing purposes or pay fees to bypass it.

Is this widespread, cross-industry approach fully compliant? GDPR requires that consent to use personal data must be given voluntarily. Is the consent in the so called pay-or-okay model "voluntary" as demanded by authorities?

The data protection authorities of Norway, Nederlands and Hamburg requested an official stance by the European Data Protection Board (EDPB).
